Degussa is the market and innovation leader in the superabsorbents market. Superabsorbents under the FAVOR^® brand excel through their extreme absorbency and high-capacity fluid storage. FAVOR^® absorbent polymers do not release the fluid even under pressure. They are used in products such as baby diapers, feminine and adult hygiene articles.

The business unit is present around the world with two production facilities in Germany and three in the USA, two R&D centers, technical service centers (Germany/USA) and an applications laboratory in Turkey. In Shanghai it maintains a development center, where life-like baby-boy and baby-girl mannequins are used to test how superabsorbents behave in baby diapers.

In 2006, Superabsorber plans to extand by acquiring worldwide existing superabsorbent business of The Dow Chemical Company.
