Evonik Industries in China: The Chinese Name for Evonik is Unveiled  

• Ying Chuang, wins by creations
• Company name change for Degussa (China) Co., Ltd. expected by end of 2007 

After the launch of the new corporate brand: Evonik Industries in September, the Chinese name of Evonik finally comes out. Ying Chuang, which means wins by creations, will become the new symbol to represent Evonik in China.

Evonik is the creative industrial group for chemicals, energy and real estate – a global leader in specialty chemicals, an expert in power generation from hard coal and renewable energies, and one of the largest private residential real estate companies in Germany.  Evonik’s chief competencies are creativity, specialization, continuous self-renewal and reliability. “Evonik Deep Purple” is the new corporate color. 

Degussa (China) Co., Ltd. is the 100% subsidiary of Evonik Degussa GmbH (former Degussa GmbH, the global market leader in specialty chemicals) in China.  The company has been producing specialty chemical products in Greater China (mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan) since the early nineties, with wide-ranging trading relations already in place prior to this. The company meanwhile owns more than 20 companies in the region, with production sites in Anqiu, Changchun, Dalian, Jining, Liaoyang, Nanning, Nanping, Qingdao, Rizhao, Shanghai, Taiwand and Yingkou. In fiscal year 2006, 4,200 employees in the Greater China generated sales of 650 million euros. We recognize China as one of the driving forces of the global economy and will intend to invest 100-150 million EUR annually in China in the next few years.

The company name of Degussa (China) Co., Ltd. will change to Evonik Degussa (China) Co., Ltd. The name change is expected to be by end of 2007.  Until then, Degussa (China) Co., Ltd. remains as company name in external communications. Name change process for subsidiaries will start after Evonik Degussa (China) Co, Ltd. has been registered.
