Evonik China Makes Donation for Sichuang Earthquake

Following a 7.8 Richter scale earthquake that hit Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province in southwest China on May 12, Evonik promises a firm donation of RMB 400,000 in cash on behalf of its subsidiaries in the Greater China Region including joint ventures to the Red Cross Society of China through which the money will be given to the disaster hit area.  

In addition, the company is joining hands with all around 4,200 employees in the Greater China Region to carry out voluntary donations.  Individual donations achieved RMB 280,000 by 17:00 of May 16th.   

This is the second time that Evonik Degussa has initiated emergency aid for China's disaster relief.  Early this year, the company initiated its first emergency aid for the Southern China areas that were hit by blizzard.
